The scenes on Hoth at beginning
of the Empire Strikes Back were filmed in Norway. The conditions were so
severe the crew were snowed into their hotel and could barely get out.
It was so cold when they filmed some
of the scenes on Hoth that they shot it right out though the door of the hotel
the crew was staying at.
Mark would run out of the door of the hotel and act out being chased by a Wampa,
while the crew filmed though the doorway and after the director shouted "Cut!";
Mark would run back into the hotel to defrost.
For
the Taun-Taun and AT-AT walker scenes "stop-motion" technique was used.
The Wampa was filmed in a studio, to the delight of many
a crew member who had frozen their butts off in Norway.
that Lucas ends the dialogue in the Phantom Menace like a Shakespearean play,
with a rhyming couplet: "Always two there are, no more, no less: a master and an
apprentice." "But which was destroyed? The master or the apprentice?"
